Information & Policies
Dates
Summer School will run from Monday, July 8th, 2013 through Friday, August 2nd, 2013. All classes meet from 8:30 to 11:30 am or from 12:00 to 3:00 pm, unless otherwise specified. RoboTech Center classes meet 8:30 am – 3:00 pm.
Registration
To register for Summer School Programs online, click here. If you are unable to register online, you may register by mail, phone (781.861.7150), fax (781.861.7250), or in person between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm at the Community Education Office at Minuteman High School, 758 Marrett Road, Lexington, MA 02421.
Adult Students
Adults wishing to sign up for a Summer School course must complete a CORI check. Please contact the office to obtain a form no less than two weeks prior to the start of the class.
Attendance Policy
To receive academic credit for Summer School classes, students MUST attend 57 out of 60 hours or 67 out of 70 hours. If a student is going to be absent, please call 781.861.7150 to let us know. If a student needs to leave early from class, a note is required and the parent / guardian must sign the student out in the Community Education office.
Books and Supplies
Any food, books, or supplies required for classes are included in the course fee unless otherwise noted. In any academic class where a student borrows a textbook, the book must be returned by the last day of class. A $60 late fee will be charged, in addition to the cost of a replacement textbook, for any textbook not returned by the deadline.
Breakfast and Lunch
Morning and afternoon breaks also provided, during which students are supervised and may choose to purchase a snack. (Afternoon snacks can be purchased from the vending machines.) The cafeteria will be open during morning break, from 10:15 - 10:45 am. Lunch is available from 11:30 am - 12:00 pm, Monday through Friday for a reasonable fee. Lunch supervision is provided.
Course Cancellations / Substitutions
Minuteman reserves the right to cancel any course if necessary for low enrollment or other reasons. If a class needs to be cancelled due to low enrollment, you will be notified one week prior to the start of class.
Confirmation of Enrollment
Parents will receive an email receipt of payments made by credit card if an email address is provided.
Shortly before the programs begin, confirmation emails will be sent with program details and information about the first day. Students attending morning or afternoon classes should report to the Minuteman gymnasium on the first day for their room assignments.
Course Changes
Course changes are only permitted on the second and third day of classes. Thereafter, a $20 fee will be charged for each course change.
Emergency Release Form
Parents/Guardians must fill out an emergency release form for each child participating in programs. These forms must be returned by mail, email ( This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ), or fax (781.861.7250) prior to the start of the programs.
Enrollment
Minuteman High School does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, sexual orientation, national origin, age, sex, or disability in admissions programs and activities. All adults are required to fill out a CORI form.
First Day of Classes
On the first day of class, students attending morning or afternoon Academic or Academic Enrichment classes should report to the gym, and students in all other programs should report to the cafeteria to receive room assignments.
Gift Certificates
You may purchase gift certificates, good towards any class at Minuteman from the Community Education Office.
No Smoking / Tobacco Law
In accordance with Massachusetts State Law and Minuteman's school policy, there is no smoking or tobacco products permitted anywhere on Minuteman property.
Parking
Students should follow the signs for Community Education Parking to the West lot, and enter by the cafeteria. Parking is prohibited on driveways, fire lanes, traffic lanes around the building, and in the visitor parking lot in the front of the building. Overnight parking is prohibited.
Reasonable Accommodations
Summer School students requiring reasonable accommodations can request services by calling the Community Education Office. Minuteman will make every effort to accommodate a student's needs.
Refund Policy
A $10 processing fee will be charged for all refunds. Full refunds, minus the $10 processing fee, will be issued when a student withdraws from a course no later than the Monday prior to the start of the class. A 75% refund, minus the $10 processing fee, will be issued to students withdrawing later than the Monday prior to the start of the class and prior to the second class. No refunds will be issued after the second class or after a one-night class has already taken place, unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Transcripts
For students in Academic classes, transcripts will be sent home and to the school indicated at the time of registration for all students in Academic classes. Please note: if Summer School tuition has not been paid in full or textbooks have not been returned, no transcripts will be sent.
Transportation
Students must provide their own transportation. Public transportation is available via the Alewife to Hanscom Field MBTA bus, which passes through Arlington and Lexington. MBTA student bus passes are available from the Summer School Office. LEXPRESS, Lexington's mini-bus system, connects with MBTA Routes 62 and 76 in Lexington Center.
